Homemade Frozen Gone Bananas

Trader Joe’s has an amazing snack called Gone Bananas. They are frozen bananas covered in dark chocolate. They taste great, but I feel like they’re lacking something. So I came up with my own Gone Bananas snack. It’s super simple and tastes great. I just added some peanut butter, and sea salt (of course) in addition to the banana and chocolate. As a self-acclaimed peanut butter and banana enthusiast, I can assure you that this recipe is amazing.

TOTAL TIME: 15 minutes (plus chilling)

SERVINGS: about 12 pieces

INGREDIENTS:

1 medium sized banana

About 1/4 cup peanut butter

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

Sea salt (optional for topping)

RECIPE:

  1. Cut a medium-sized banana into about 12 even slices. You won’t need the ends for this recipe since the bananas should be even cylinders.

  2. Put a heaping ¼ teaspoon of peanut butter on each slice and freeze for about 2 hours or until completely firm.

  3. After 2 hours have elapsed, melt the chocolate. If you are using a microwave to melt it, then make sure to microwave for 10 seconds at a time and stir in between or it will burn.

  4. Then remove the bananas from the freezer. Dip the tops of each banana. The chocolate will harden quickly since the bananas are cold, so if you want to add sea salt add it to the bananas while the chocolate is still melted. Once the chocolate hardens on all the tops, dip the bottoms in.

  5. Store in the freezer for up to a month.

NOTES:

Remove the bananas from the freezer for about 5 minutes before eating them.
